There are places in the world where time moves more slowly.
Where the rhythm of life is shaped by the sea, by the turning of the seasons, by the simple pleasure of gathering around a table with good food and good company.
The coastal town of Rovinj, on Croatia’s Istrian Peninsula, is one of those places.
With its medieval cobbled streets, pastel-colored houses, and fishing boats bobbing in the harbor, Rovinj feels like a living painting.
It is a place that invites you to slow down, to wander, to savor, to notice the beauty of each moment.
Let’s accept that invitation together.
This fall, a small group of adventurers will immerse ourselves in the beautiful Adriatic culture. You’re invited to join us as we explore what it means to live well, to move slowly enough to taste life.
Discover the beauty of one of croatia’s most historic towns.
Our retreat will be based in Rovinj, widely considered to be one of the most beautiful towns in Croatia.
Part of the Venetian Republic for centuries, the old town rises from a peninsula on the Adriatic Sea. Terracotta rooftops and stone buildings seem to glow in the Mediterranean light. Narrow alleys wind upward past hidden courtyards. At the top of the hill stands a beautiful church, watching over the town and the sparkling sea beyond.
We’ll savor the beauty of this incredible place, walking through its cobblestone streets to discover its secrets. We’ve carefully chosen a season when tourist numbers are much lower than in the busy summer months, giving us more space to enjoy this treasure.
Feel the magic of the Istrian Peninsula.
We’ll also venture beyond Rovinj to experience the quiet magic of the Istrian countryside. This is a land of villages and vineyards, where many people still follow the traditional ways.
We will visit Motovun, a spectacular medieval hilltop town rising above vineyards and forests, as well as Groznjan, a small village that has become an artists’ enclave filled with galleries, music, and creativity.
Along the way, we’ll pass vineyards, olive groves, forests of oak, and truffle-rich earth. This timeless landscape reminds us that the most beautiful things in life are also the simplest.
Immerse yourself in the wildness of nature.
The Istrian Peninsula is not only a landscape of villages and vineyards. It is also a place where nature invites us to slow down and savor.
The coastline around Rovinj is a tapestry of rocky coves, small islands, and brilliant turquoise waters. We will explore by boat, marveling at the beauty of the cliffs along the coast. The Adriatic is home to pods of dolphins, and if we’re lucky, they’ll choose to spend some time alongside our boat.
On land, we’ll explore the forested hills and limestone landscapes of the peaceful Istrian countryside. These hills are filled with caves, and some have even offered solitude for saints. We’ll take some time to enjoy the peaceful stillness that only nature can provide.
Immerse yourself in movement and creativity.
Of course, on this Yoga and Art Adventure, we’ll enjoy plenty of both!
We’ll be able to practice yoga in a beautiful and peaceful outdoor space, which will inspire and rejuvenate you. This is the perfect setting to replenish your energy. There’s even a meditation platform in a tree, giving you the unique opportunity to connect with nature on a new level.
Some of our excursions will also include a bit of meditation and/or yoga, to help us fully soak in everything around us.
We’ll also spend some time exploring our creativity through art. As always, there’s no pressure to produce any masterpieces! This is an opportunity to explore and enjoy the process of creation, with no worries about the outcome. Rovinj has always attracted artists, and you’ll find plenty of beauty around you to inspire your own creativity. Nicole’s thoughtfully designed art activities will encourage you and bring out your playful spirit.
And for our massage lovers — yes, there’s a spa at the retreat center! You can absolutely choose to relax with a massage. There’s also a hot tub and an infrared sauna, to help you achieve complete relaxation.
Linger over the flavors of Istria.
Life in Istria is deeply connected to the pleasures of the table and the sounds of shared celebration.
The cuisine of the Istrian Peninsula reflects centuries of cultural influence. Mediterranean, Venetian, and Central European traditions are woven together into a food culture that is simple, seasonal, and deeply rooted in the land. Dining is not rushed; it is a time to gather, linger, and enjoy conversation as much as the food itself.
We’ll enjoy local Croatian food together every evening. One of the highlights of our week will be visiting a biodynamic farm in the Istrian countryside, where we will share a meal prepared from ingredients grown on the land around us.
Music, too, is part of the cultural fabric of Istria, filling small town squares and local taverns. We’ll enjoy local music along with our dinner on at least one evening, savoring the unique sounds along with the flavors on the table.
You’re invited to step into a slower pace of life, immersing yourself in movement, creativity, culture, and the simple pleasures of life on the Adriatic.
